Practical Information

We take our time at the first consultation in order to make sure both you as the owner and the horse receives help of good quality.

The horse’s fur must be dry and groomed before the treatment can start. During our conversation about the horse, please let me know whether the horse is on any medication, if you are aware of any contra-indications, if the horse gets other treatments etc.

Joints and muscles will be examined followed by an analysis of how the horse moves.

After the treatment a recommendation of a follow-up will be recommended, if necessary.

We spend about 1,5 – 2 hours on the first consultation. How long the first consultation takes is not important for Statera, as it is more important that the horse feels safe during the process.

For booking please call, send a SMS or contact via Statera’s Facebook page.

The goals of Statera is a caring follow-up also outside the consultation.

Before the treatment

Prior to the treatment the fur must be dry and groomed in order to prevent sore skin caused by the massage. Sand must therefore be brushed off. If the fur is wet or damp the horse cannot receive massage. Please make sure that the horse is ready for the treatment when the therapist arrives.

The horse should not have been trained or exercised for several hours before consultation, as warmed up muscles will make it difficult or impossible to get a clear picture of what the horse’s issues are.

Medication

Please inform up front of any medication the horse is on, as some categories of medication are not compatible with massage. If anything is unclear, please consult your veterinary. Massage is not allowed to use if the horse suffers from certain conditions or diseases, and if in doubt please consult your veterinary.

First time consultation

If the horse is not used to massage it is recommended to let the horse adapt to the treatment well in advance, at the very latest 4-5 days prior to a competition. The horse’s muscles may become sore after treatment, and sometimes reactions may occur also after the second or third treatment, but they usually do not last that long. The reactions will no longer be present when the muscles are used to the massage.

Light exercise after treatment

The horse should not be trained after the treatments. However, it is recommended to walk or drive the horse in a slow pace in order to help the muscles to get rid of waste released during the treatment. When adapted to the massage, the horse may train as normal without regard to the treatment.

The horse should rest the day of the treatment if joints have been adjusted, but can go back to the daily routines the next day.
