Joint mobilisation and adjustment

Dysfunction of the joint?

It is a widespread myth that a knuckle can be “out of position” and that it is treated by being “cracked back into place”. However, this is not supported by any research.

A dysfunction of the joint is simply a limited range of motion, which can cause pain when moving. The joint may have a limited range of motion in one direction or a total absence of motion. A dysfunction of the joint will block proper nourishment of the joint cartilage.

Treatment

When adjusting a joint you do not move the knuckle, but a quick impulse is given to the nervous system, and is given the chance to re-establish the balance.

The method I use is very mild and gentle.

A dysfunction of the joint may have variable origin. However, the muscles are always involved, and therefore massage will always be my first choice of treatment.
